For sale is a scarce membership badge issued by the Heiress Club of the Girl's Own Paper (GOP) whose readership was mainly teenage and older girls. The GOP was a sister-publication of the more famous Boy's Own Paper (1879-1967). GOP was first published from 1880 but unlike Boy's Own Paper, GOP had changed its title over the years:

1880 - Girl's Own Paper 1st edition published.
1929 - Girl's Own Paper & Women's Magazine amalgamated.
1930 - Girl's Own Paper and the Women's Magazine became separate publication.
1947 - Girl's Own Paper & Heiress amalgamated.
1951 - renamed as 'Heiress incorporating the Girl's Own paper'.
1956 - Heiress ceased publication.

Size: about 25/32" diameter (20mm).
Material(s): Brass metal with 1 vitreous enamel.
Finish: Tin plated.
Fitting: Pin.
Imprint: J. R. GAUNT LONDON
Approximate age: c.1961 to c.1956.

CONDITION:
Good condition. No damage or defects to the enamel. Tin plating worn along upper edges and high areas (dark areas are underlying brass showing through tin plating).
