For sale is a bus crew member's ID badge issued by the HCPTD (Huddersfield Corporation Public Transport Department). Company badges like these would have been issued to bus crew (conductors and drivers) and each of them identified by the number on their badge.

The HCPTD was established in 1961 and inherited a fleet of diesel busses and electric trolley busses, all with their distinctive red and white livery. During the 1960's all the trolley busses were phased out and replaced by diesel busses until the last trolley bus ran on Saturday 13th July 1968. The HCPTD two crew busses were also phased out from 1967 and replaced with one-man operated busses. As part of local government reforms, the HCPTD was abolished at the end of March 1974 and the functions of running the Huddersfield public bus services was taken over by the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive. These ID badges would have been in use throughout the lifetime of the HCPTD.

Finish: gilt.
Fitting: buttonhole fitting (horseshoe shaped clasp).
