​A genuine piece of Cold War history: the Medal for Excellent Service in the Armed Organs of the Ministry of the Interior (Medaille für ausgezeichnete Leistungen in den bewaffneten Organen des Ministeriums des Innern).
​This medal was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR / DDR), conferred upon individuals and collectives for outstanding performance and contributions to strengthening the socialist state, typically within the People's Police (Volkspolizei), Border Troops, or other MDI branches.
​Grade: Bronze (standard issue).
​Period Awarded: 1959–1990.
​Obverse Design: Features the GDR state emblem (hammer, compass, and wreath of corn) above the inscription: "FÜR AUSGEZEICHNETE LEISTUNGEN" (For Excellent Service).

​it has it's original green ribbon with two thin white vertical stripes, mounted on the correct pentagonal suspension.
​Excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of wear, consistent with a collectible of this age.
