For sale is a scarce long-service badge that would originally have been awarded to an employee of ELLIOTT BROTHERS (LONDON) LTD.

Elliott Brothers (London) Ltd were a manufacturing and R&D company of electronic and measuring instruments, notably for the British aircraft industry as well as computers. The company was founded by William Elliott in the early 1800 as a manufacturer of scientific and drawing instruments and in 1900 moved from the City of London to their new purpose built factory at Lewisham known as Century Works.

By the mid 20th century, Elliott Brothers Ltd had undergone considerable expansion by acquiring many specialist companies and by the 1960's employed over 35,000 within the group overall. The company merged with English Electric Company in 1967 and the Century Works site closed during the 80's, redeveloped for residential and retail purposes. Through further acquisitions and rationalisations, the legacy of Elliott Brothers Ltd became part of BAE Systems based at Rochester.

In 1946 Elliott established their R&D facility at Borehamwood famed for its work in developing an early computer known as the Elliott 152 in 1950.

Approximate age: 1950's to 1960's.

CONDITION:
Fair condition, hence very low price. Pin in working order. Weak adherence of the enamel causing it to flake off about the 9 o/c and the 3 o/c positions.
