For sale is a promotional button badge issued by high-street opiticians Dollond & Aitchison (D&A) and given to young girls who had their glasses/frames bought at any of the opticians' shops. This badge features a Sindy doll and the D&A logo with owl.

The chain of Dollond & Aitchison optician shops were first established in 1750 by Peter Dollond. In 1927, Dollonds merged with Aitchison & Company to form Dollond & Aitchison. The chain of shops was bought over in 2009 and rebranded under the Boots Opticians name.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 2 1/4" diameter (56mm).
Material(s): steel body with printed paper insert under a clear cellulose laminate.
Finish: insert printed lithography in four-colour process. Backing of plastic.
Fittings: pin.
Imprint: none.
Approximate age: around mid-1990s.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pin in working order. Some surface markings commensurate with age and use, as is usual with cellulose laminated badge. Marks noticable only when held at a certain angle to the light.
