Butlins Ayr 1959 - camper's enamel badge made by Jewellery Metal Company of Dublin (excellent condition)

This badge was issued by Butlin's holiday camp in Ayr, Scotland to paid-up campers while staying there. Butlin's Ayr was first opened to holiday makers in 1947 having an initial capacity to accommodate up to 2,000 guests and this was later increased to 5,000. During the 1980’s, a major investment program was undertaken to modernise the camp and in 1987 it was renamed as 'Wonderwest World'. In 1999, the camp became part of the Haven Holidays group and renamed 'Craig Tara', under which it still operates.

Butlin's Ayr issued badges annually from 1947 until 1967 and some of the earlier ones, such as this one, were manufactured by the Jewellery Metal Company in Dublin.

Size: 23/32" x 1 1/32" (18mm x 26.5mm).
Material(s): Brass metal with 2 vitreous enamels.
Finish: Tin plated.
Fitting: Pin.
Imprint: JEWELLERY METAL....DUBLIN EMPIRE....some letters may be covered by the pin mounts.
Approximate age: 1959.

A mint condition metal and enamel badge. No damage, pin tight and in good working order.
