For sale is a vintage 25 years long-service enamelled badge. This badge would originally have been awarded to an employee who had served 25 years with the company and then enrolled into the company's Quarter Century Club. The employee would also have been awarded a gold watch to mark the occasion.

Broom & Wade Ltd of High Wycombe in Buckingham was established 1898 by Harry Skeet Broom and Jethro Thomas Wade, initially as a general engineering and repairs company. During the 1910s, they diversified into compressed air machinery, parts and pneumatic tools, for which they would remain renowned thereafter. "BroomWade" was the company’s registered trademark introduced about 1931.

In 1968, Wade & Broom Ltd merged with Holman Bros Ltd in 1968 to form CompAir Ltd, which was later acquired by the Gardener Denver Inc. group of companies in 2008. Since 2022, Wade & Broom continue as part of the Ingersoll Rand group through the CompAir brand.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 3/4" diameter (19mm).
Material(s): brass metal with 2 enamels.
Finish: gilt plated.
Fitting: buttonhole (horseshoe shaped clasp).
Imprint: B'HAM MEDAL & BADGE CO LTD. ALBION ST. BIRMINGHAM
Approximate age: mid to late 1950s.

CONDITION:
Wear to the enamel surface. There is an edge-knock to the blue enamel about the 1 o/c position. Hence the low price of this badge.
