British Military Cross Replica Medal
The Military Cross (MC) is the third-level military decoration awarded for exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land by the British Armed Forces.
History and Creation
• Established: Created on December 28, 1914, by King George V.
• Original Purpose: Given to junior officers (captain or below) and warrant officers for distinguished and meritorious service in battle.
• Evolution: In 1931, eligibility expanded to majors and Royal Air Force (RAF) personnel for ground operations. Following a 1993 review of the honors system, the award opened to all ranks of the British Armed Forces after the Military Medal was discontinued.
