Bohemian Ruby Red Cut-to-Clear Glass Decanter. Etched Stag, Bird & Ferns. 36.5cm (14.4 inches). Ball Stopper
A striking piece of Bohemian ruby glass, standing 36.5cm tall. The decanter is cased in deep ruby red glass that has been cut back to clear in panels and then hand-engraved, allowing light to pass through the etched motifs.
Decoration: The bulbous body features cut oval "windows" through to clear glass, engraved with a leaping stag, a bird in flight, and delicate fern/foliage sprays. A diamond-lattice cut medallion sits alongside the figural panels. The tapering neck carries a cut lattice/beaded panel design that continues the ruby-and-clear contrast. The generous ball stopper is cut with a matching scrolling foliate band, with a frosted/satin band at the base of the stopper's finial.
Condition: The decanter is in excellent condition overall — no cracks, no cloudiness, no separation of the ruby flashing, and the stopper fits well. The only fault is a small surface chip to the rim of the neck opening (clearly shown in the close-up photo). This is a chip only, with no crack running into the glass. It does not affect display or the fit of the stopper.
Dimensions: Height: 36.5cm (14.4"). Neck opening diameter: 4.5cm. Base diameter: approx. 9cm
