Blackthorn cane walking stick
These are traditional Irish shillelagh walking sticks. They are traditionally handcrafted from dark, knotty blackthorn wood (Prunus spinosa), known for its distinct thorny protrusions (or "knuckles") left behind after the thorns are trimmed and smoothed down.
Historically, shillelaghs were utilized as both everyday walking aids and defensive weapons in traditional Irish stick fighting (bataireacht).
Modern authentic blackthorn sticks remain highly popular functional canes, collectors' pieces, and symbols of Irish heritage.
