This was originally the fitted case for a "New Improved Saccharometer" made by renowned scientific instrument maker Joseph Long of 20 Little Tower Street, London (operating 1821-1884)
The box is empty inside, making it a perfect upcycling or restoration project
It is ideal for conversion into a luxury fountain pen display, watch box, jewelry case, or premium desk tidy
Condition: Great vintage condition with a gorgeous aged wood patina
Golden brass stringing inlay details on the lid
Hinges are sturdy and intact
