Genuine hand-made Indonesian shadow puppet (wayang kulit), depicting a refined noble character from the Javanese epics. Cut and pierced from water-buffalo hide, hand-painted with real applied gold leaf, mounted on a turned wooden handle with articulated leather arm-rods (one present and one missing).

Likely Javanese, mid-20th century. Bought in Camden Market, London. Shows patina and some paint wear consistent with age — reflected in the price. A striking decorative or collector's piece.
