Antique Fraternity beer cap badge
Antique Bierzipfel ( Beer cap) from Germany.
The term "Bierzipfel" refers to a fabric badge with silver ends, or in rare cases, gold. It is exchanged between fraternity members as a sign of friendship and often contains a series of dedications, engravings, or similar texts. After each fox has joined the club and chosen a fellow to guide them through the club, they inform their fellow. In very rare cases, this is refused. By announcing their commitment at the convention and exchanging their beerzipfel for a winezipfel, the fox becomes the personal fox (beer son) of their personal fellow (beer father).
Trading among members is permitted in any combination and is not restricted to specific fraternity members. The ribbon is usually in the other fraternity's colors. Otherwise, the convention must approve the release of one's own association colors.
In good Antique condition. Metal parts are marked 800 silver and the crest is monogramed. Measures 4 inches( 10 cm) X 1.1/8 inches(3 cm) excluding the hook.
