Antique Commode c20th
Ideal Antique prop display piece in the right setting. Previously part of the interior of a large property in Wexford (we can convey the house and history), Oak top with a elm insert above a pine collar around the ceramic bowl (pot), there’s various removable inserts to this commode including an interior and exterior hinged lid. At some stage someone has adapted another later hardboard (collar / surround) for the bowl to sit in, the original pine insert is still in situ but someone has made a smaller insert for the pot to sit in. NOTE: Sign of a previous repair to the hinged lid which thankfully is not blatantly visible from the exterior. OAK outer frame – top and legs etc, whilst the insert is elm followed by pine etc. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WAS NOT MADE YESTERDAY. THERE’S A TON OF AGE TO THIS AND AS SAID WE CAN CONVEY THE HOUSE AND THE HISTORY BEHIND IT.
STUDY THE PICS AS THEY FORM PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.
