Title:
Antique Arts & Crafts Copper Brooch – Ruskin Style Foiled Glass Cabochons (c. 1900-1920s)
Description:
A stunning early 20th-century antique Arts & Crafts movement circular disc brooch. This piece features a beautiful Celtic-inspired medieval design, beautifully hand-wrought from solid copper with an antique silver-plated/pewter-washed front finish that shows an authentic, deep historical patina.
The brooch is set with a large central cerulean blue/turquoise foiled art glass cabochon showing a wonderful metallic shimmer, accented by four matching smaller cabochons arranged in a symmetric cross formation.
Condition Details:
* Front Face: Excellent antique condition. The hammered surface shows a rich, uncleaned dark patina that beautifully highlights the textured repoussé finish. The central glass inserts are secure, vibrant, and free of deep cracks.
* Rim & Back: Honest age wear present; an antique scratch on the outer rim confirms the underlying base metal is authentic solid copper.
* Mechanism: Features its original, period-correct C-clasp mechanism with a long, sturdy pin extending slightly past the rim, confirming its early vintage/antique origin. Unmarked.
A highly collectible piece of wearable art history, perfect for collectors of Art Nouveau, Liberty & Co style, or Arts & Crafts jewellery.
