Antique 56lb weight
Antique cast iron 56 pound weight made in the Kelvin Foundry in Glasgow, Scotland.
Very old, likely 19th century. (Kelvin Foundry opened in 1837.)
Marked to top: "Imperial ??. 56lb. Kelvin Foundry."
In as-found condition with rust, a good deal of age-related wear around the base, and rubbing to the writing on top.
Interesting with the lead inserts in the base and side.
It measures approx. 19cm x 14cm x 14cm.
Nice piece for a garden or as a doorstop, etc.
Collection or local meet.
