Antique 19th Century Saw-Handled Percussion Pistol - Engraved - Birmingham Proof Marks

For sale is an attractive antique 19th-century saw-handled percussion pistol, with extensively scroll-engraved brass frame and grip.

Features the distinctive saw-handle butt, substantial octagonal barrel, external percussion hammer, folding trigger arrangement and original captive/swivel ramrod.

The frame and grip are decorated throughout with attractive period scroll engraving. Proof marks are present to the barrel, including the distinctive Birmingham-style crown/crossed-sceptres mark.

Hammer spring is strong. There is some damage/wear to the hammer, as shown in the photographs. Barrel and metalwork show age-related wear, oxidation and patina.

A very interesting antique saw-handled percussion pistol, suitable for a collector of antique firearms, historical arms or militaria.
