For sale is an unusual shaped button badge issued for the Nestlé ANIMAL BAR CLUB. This badge would originally come as part of the membership pack that also included other items such as the club member's certificate, poster, wall charts, stickers, small toy and a welcoming letter from the club's president, Mickey Monkey. Other members of the club's board included Anton the anteater, Bertha Bear, Iggy Iguana, Lucy Leopard and Ron Rhino, as seen on the club badge as well as the chocolate bar wrappers. Club membership was open to all by sending in a completed application form along with eight Animal Bar wrappers.

Animal Bars were a brand of chocolate bar made by Nestlé, introduced in 1963 and discontinued in 2023. The bars had animals moulded onto them and were a cheap and cheerful treat, along with their colourful wrappers with a game printed on its inside.

Size: about 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" (70mm x 45mm).
Material(s): steel body with printed paper insert under a clear cellulose laminate.
Finish: insert printed lithography in 3 colours. Reverse side tin wash.
Fittings: D-pin.
Imprint: none. British Patent Office registration number 988112 (1981) - refers to the year this design of badge was registered.
Approximate age: 1981 to c.1986.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pin in working order. Badge actually looks better in-the-hand - yellow colour more intense on the badge.
