For sale is a scarce 5 Year Service enamel badge issued by the Anglesey Aluminium Metal Ltd (AAM). The badge displays the company's logo.

AAM started production in 1971 and was joint-owned by Rio Tinto and Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation. The newly built plant occupied a site of over 800 acres close to the town of Holyhead on the Island of Anglesey. AAM produced aluminium metal and was one of Britain's largest single user of electricity during its time of production. The company was closed down in September 2009 with the loss of over 400 high-paying quality jobs. Since then, the factory has been mothballed and there are plans to commence construction work during 2018 that will convert it to a biomass energy recovery plant to produce electricity for the national electric grid. There are also plans for other projects on the site such as a food company and a holiday village.

Material(s): Brass metal with 3 vitreous enamels.
Finish: Gilt.
Fitting: Pin.
Imprint: none (but may have been produced by Manhattan Windsor Ltd of Birmingham.
Approximate age: c.1977 to early 1980's.

CONDITION:
A good condition metal and enamel badge. No damage to the enamels. Pin is tight and in good working order.This appears to be a replacement pin of decent quality, hence the lower asking price.
