Amazing Vintage Retro Funky Kitsch Globe Shaped Soda Syphon in Chrome - Perfect for a Man Cave or Home Bar Amazing Vintage Retro Funky Kitsch Globe Shaped Soda Syphon in Chrome - Perfect for a Man Cave or Home Bar Other Antiques & Collectables

In a fabulous Bright Shiny Chrome, this would look amazing in a home bar or man cave.

This retro style soda syphon, once a symbol of kitsch and bad taste, is now the height of retro cool. The Sparklets Soda Syphon was a hit at 70s parties. They are once again popular in Man Caves and Home Bars, either for display or use.

BOC Sparklets were the soda syphons of choice, but this one, although it looks like the Sparklets Globemaster, does not have any stamps on the bottom to indicate the manufacturer. So I cannot definitively say who the manufacturer was, but the below information is interesting as it shows the history of these devices:

The Sparklets Soda Syphon was originally used as a way of bringing sparkling or aerated water to hot climates at the far reaches of the British Empire, including during the Boer War!
In 1920 Sparklets Ltd was acquired by BOC, the British Oxygen Company. By the 1960s Sparklets specialised in diecast products for the domestic industry. The Sparklets bulb method may not have changed much since the days of the Boer War, but the style of the syphon moved with the times. Three basic types were from the 1960 & 70's were the Streamline, the Hostmaster and the Globemaster.

This example is like the Globemaster, being globe shaped, and it is considered the ultimate party soda syphon. It took two sparklets bulbs, so it would last twice as long without a refill. (One of the complaints about traditionally shaped Soda Syphons was that they ran out of fizz too quickly during swinger's parties, so clearly there was a hole in the market, duly filled by the perfectly spherical Globemasters!!) The Globemaster was the most expensive soda syphon in the range. Its ball shape fitted in well with a modern house as it still does today.

This one is in a beautiful bright shiny Chrome finish colour, and the chrome is in very good shape, and overall the condition is excellent considering the age. The chrome is so shiny it was hard to photograph without seeing me and my phone in the reflection!!! It does not come with the bulb connector or any bulbs, but both are available on Amazon and Ebay.

These are only necessary if you wish to use the Syphon - I only have ever had it on display! I guess I don't have many swingers parties!!!!
