.
The 'A K Happy' children's club was run by the New Chronicle newspaper and this badge would have formed part of the membership pack when joining the club. A K Happy was the Arkubs bear and mascot of the club.
The Arkubs was a family of characters created and drawn by the illustrator, James Francis Horrabin (1884-1962). The Arkubs was first published in the Daily News from 1919 and continued with that newspaper until 1930. Publishing rights were transferred to the News Chronicle who continued with The Arkubs comic strips well into the 1950's.
This particular badge was made by W H Miller Ltd of Birmingham between 1931 and 1934.
