5-7th c. Anglo Saxon Gilt Carved Chip Mount.
Very likely a piece of 6th century Saxon chip mount, please see other examples online as it matches it.
Two holes, a symmetrical floral pattern with two stubs on the back were the mounting was but look to have been snapped off hence lost in the ground.
Remnants of gilding throughout the surface of this piece, unsure to as for what exact it covered or was used for. However still a lovely piece of saxon history uncovered while detecting in the north of West Yorkshire.
