Joseph Clayton Clarke, who is best known by his pseudonym “Kyd,” was born in 1857 was versatile an artist who attempted all sorts of subjects, although he is chiefly remembered for his two collections of watercolours of Dickens's quirky characters, one of which was "The Characters of Charles Dickens Pourtrayed in a Series of Original Water Colour Sketches by Kyd (1889)

Condition: Very good - colours still bright - on gilt edged thick paper - slightly age toned - there is a separate page with each plate which has the title and a few lines from the book - name of character to bottom left - name of book to bottom right - see all images.
