For sale is an attractive brass and enamels souvenir medallion of the type sold at the 1938 EMPIRE EXHIBITION SCOTLAND. This public exhibition took place at Bellhoustion Park in Glasgow from the 3rd May to the 29th October 1938 and attracted over 12.5 million paying visitors. The exhibition was a showcase of industry and culture for Scotland and the British Empire, rivalling that of the great exhibition at Wembley in London that took place in 1924. The exhibition covered an area of 174 acres and took over 10 months to construct.
This medallion would likely have been attached to a pin for fixing and shows the exhibition's official emblem of the Scottish heraldic lion and exhibition name.
