1909 Customs & Excise antique solid brass Paper-Seal Padlock (Tucker & Reeves / Hobbs & Co.)

For sale is a rare, highly collectible antique all-brass British Customs & Excise paper-seal security padlock. Weighing exactly 106 grams, this style of lock was historically used to secure bonded warehouses and transit containers.

* Maker: Tucker & Reeves (stamped "Tucker & Reeves Patent" on the central shield plate)
* Retailer/Issue Marks: Stamped "Hobbs & Co 1909" and "1907" along the side edge
* Serial Number: 5887 (matching stamps on both the main flip cover and the shackle)
* Mechanism: Features the classic hinged drop-down front plate designed to house a paper or wax tamper-evident seal over the keyway.

The brass has a fantastic dark, natural aged patina. Great piece for collectors of historic locks, industrial decor, or distillery memorabilia.
