Vintage Irish claddagh mother of pearl celtic hair stick barrettes
In the 1970s, all the hippie girls would pull back their long thick hair, sometimes ust at the bangs and sometimes the entire amount of it, and clip it back with barrettes designed simply and elegantly with a curved piece and a stick going through the sides. Most of these hair stick barrettes, bun holders. or whatever vou called them, were made of leather and wood. And so of course when I came across this silver plated piece, and with a fabulous Irish Claddagh designs of hands holding a Mother of Pearl inlaid heart, my hippie heart did a flip! The piece is well made and feels substantial to hold, and the main imperfection of this vintage piece is that the stick would have had a silver tone cap on the end of the wooden stick.
