Hand built Red clay figurative study sculpture
Superbly observed, hand modelled, red clay sculpture of a young girl at play.
The piece came from the estate of a Northern Irish artist, Ian Long, which included pieces from the Kilkenny Design Collective and works by Oisín Kelly, including his Male & Female candlesticks. It is believed to date from the late 1960s.
It is beautifully modelled and hand built in red clay and is similar in style and technique to Oisín Kelly’s ‘Bust of a Girl’ and his bronze ‘Reclining Nude’, however the piece is unsigned and therefore unattributed.
She stands at approximately 46cm in overall height and is in superb condition - free from damage, and has a beautiful, age related patina. No damage.
