** There is a bit of scratching to the top right of the desk, but in 7 years of using, I've actually never noticed.

Yes the extender smoothly slides in and out, it is on wheels.

I'm not there now to take a photo of my desk but I have just uploaded photos showing the style desk with the leaf extended.

Also perfect as a crafting desk as I could have my sewing machine on the extender and the desk area was still usable.
