Bank of England 1 Pound banknote Queen Elizabeth II
This note belongs to the Series D Pictorial Issue, which was the first £1 banknote issued after decimalisation in 1971.
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse depicts Sir Isaac Newton, a renowned scientist and former Master of the Royal Mint.
The signature of the Chief Cashier, D. H. F. Somerset, is visible on the note.
The £1 banknote was gradually replaced by the £1 coin starting in 1983 and ceased to be legal tender on March 11, 1988.
