Records the story of the Castle Golf Club, Rathfarnham, Dublin, since its formation in 1913 through a century of continuous change and development. Indeed, Chapter 8 traces the history of the Rathfarnham Demesne for centuries before the golf club - thus this is an important historical record .
The history shows the founding fathers as brave and visionary, particularly in their decision to purchase the club from Messrs Bailey and Gibson in 1918. It also records their willingness to seek the best professionals to advise them in both the development of the course and clubhouse. The standards and values set in those early days have been maintained by successive management committees as a result of which the present members have inherited one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland.
Throughout the years, the Club has benefited from a dedicated staff, most of whom have spent a lifetime as part of the Castle family - their contribution is acknowledged in this history.

Castle is a very special Club, with a strong family ethos and a great spirit of caring and friendship - we have tried to capture this in this book.

In compiling this history, we have drawn heavily on the old minute books (going back to 1913), reports of annual general meetings, Castle newsletters and newspaper cuttings. Where we have included extracts from these documents, they have been recorded verbatim.
