It recalls the uproar over Dick Moran's affair in Glenroe and the nationwide protest about the decision by Switzers department store to remove the gnomes from their Christmas window. There are moving accounts of ordinary people's experiences of the AIDS crisis, unhappy marriages and abortion. Central, of course, are stories from the everyday superwomen who made up the majority of the listenership, entrusting their personal experiences to Gay Byrne who skilfully acted as ringmaster, capturing what mattered to them.
