From Bruree to Corcomohide covers a district comprising two ancient tuatha, or petty kindoms, Bru Ri and Corca Muichead, in South Co.Limerick, each with very interesting, but somewhat contrasting, histories, one tuath coming under Norman influence, the other surviving as a kind of Gaelic petty kingdom down to the Cromwellian period. The book tells the story of the combined area from prehistoric times down to the present day. In it we meet druids and saints; the kings of Bruree and the O Donovan chiefs; the Norman de Lacys; the Cromwellian Planters, the landed gentry – Langtons, Hardings, Conyerses, Sheltons, Drews; the Gaelic poets of the Maigue, the Whiteboys and their mysterious leader, Cusse.
