This is the summary catalogue listing all the French drawings and paintings in the main collection of Glasgow's Kelvingrove art gallery. Aside from a few important early paintings, most of the work in the catalogue dates from the 19th and 20th centuries; those of you familiar with the collection will know that it includes works by Van Gogh, Bonnard, Monet, Matisse etc., Realist, Barbizon, Impressionist and Post-Impressionist work is represented, mainly oils but also pastel, watercolour and a few drawings. There are about 300 works represented here, with 88 colour illustrations; most of the works are shown in good size, though the colour reproduction quality is about on par with the galleries postcards, which isn't bad. This is certainly a nice and handy reference book to have and if you don`t know about this fine little collection, this is a good introduction to what Glasgow's galleries have to offer.
