Cork- Steps & Steeples
A copy of Colm Lincoln’s book Steps & Steeples, reflecting Cork at the turn of the century, published by O’Brien Press in 1980.
Steps and Steeples is more than simply an architectural record.
Light is also thrown on the social and economic life of the period. The range of topics covered, from warships at
'Queenstown' to 'hot-air baths' near Blamey provides a stimulating introduction to Victorian Cork.
The book is handsomely illustrated with contemporary photographs from the Lawrence Collection and includes maps as well as an extensive list of references. For the resident as well as the visitor it provides a fascinating record of Cork and its harbour.
