The Hammer That Wanted to Fix the World
For many years, I've been repairing old clocks and watches, bringing them back to life and discovering the stories that time has left behind. But somewhere along the way, I began to notice that it's not only old watches that have stories to tell. Sometimes they hide in the simplest moments, unexpected encounters and ordinary things we might otherwise overlook.
And it was from a handful of such seemingly ordinary moments that this little story was born.
It's a gentle, sometimes humorous story about life, our attempts to understand and change the world, and the possibility that not everything needs fixing. There are six ducks, an old sofa, a watch, a few curious characters and some questions that may not need answers at all.
I'm sharing the complete English edition entirely free of charge, simply in the hope that someone might enjoy reading it. This is a digital edition (PDF) only. No physical or printed copy is included.

The story was originally written in Polish and translated into English with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The English version was then carefully reviewed and refined.
I'm particularly interested in discovering whether AI can help carry across not just the meaning of words, but also the warmth, humour and atmosphere of a story.
And this is where I'd love a little help from you.
If you decide to read it, I'd be genuinely grateful if you could share your impressions in the comments below.
Does the English sound natural? Does the story flow smoothly? Does it feel like something originally written in English, or are there moments when the translation shows through? You don't need to know Polish to take part. I'm simply interested in how the English version feels to someone reading it for the first time.
Honest opinions, including criticism, are very welcome.
And of course, if you simply enjoy the story, that would make me just as happy. Thank you for stopping by. I hope this little story brings you a smile, perhaps a moment of reflection, and maybe even a slightly different way of looking at the ordinary things around us. Happy reading!
