Patrick Lyons was born in Lisronagh, Clonmel, Co.Tipperary in 1861 and after retiring from the the RIC in 1920 he returned to Clonmel where he lived until his death in 1954 at the age of 94. Lyons did much field work in Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, and Tipperary but also visited many other places, photographing and measuring monuments. Includes a listing of the Lyon's photographic collection in the Hardiman Library, NUI Galway and bibliography of his writing.
