Diecast Model Mercedes-Benz SSKL - Collectable Solido Age D'Or 1:43

Pre-owned 1:43 scale model of the winning Mercedes-Benz SSKL in the 1931 Mille Miglia, driven by Rudolf Carraciola, they were first non-Italian car or driver to win this famous race. The model was part of the Solido Age D’Or range launched in the 1970's producing accurate well finished models.

* Mercedes-Benz racing budget for 1931 was so small that an entry in the Mille Miglia looked unlikely but Neubauer found the funds to enter one car driven by Rudolf Carraciola (released by Alfa Romeo who were unable to provide him with a car for the race) with William Sebastian as his riding mechanic. The Mercedes-Benz SSK was already a proven race car but Neubauer decided to lighten the car by drilling holes in places where strength wouldn't be compromised and managed to shed 125Kgs. The car was redesignated SSKL (L for light). The car was fast and reliable and Carraciola won the race. It was to be another 24 years before a foreign driver would again break the Italians dominance of the Mille Miglia (Stirling Moss in 1955). The SSKL was powered by a Mercedes-Benz 6 cylinder in line supercharged engine of 7.1 Litres giving about 300 bhp.
