Diecast Model 1920 INDY 500 Peugeot 3 Litre - NOREV Collectors Model 1:43

Pre-owned 1:43 scale high quality, detailed, diecast model, in very good condition of a Peugeot 3 Litre that competed in the 1920 Indy 500. An unusual subject for a European model that is being sold from my personal model collection.

* The 1920 Indianapolis 500 was the 8th International 500 Mile Sweepstakes at Indianapolis.
* Peugeot (SA des Automobiles et Cycles Peugeot) entered the Indianapolis 500 between 1913 and 1919, winning in 1913, 1916 and 1919. They also placed well in 1914 and 1915. Peugeot returned again in 1920 when a new (reduced) 3 Litre formula was introduced. They entered four cars, based on their earlier successful Grand Prix design, but fitted with a new 3 Litre engine. The cars were to be driven by Jules Goux (all 4 were entered under his name as well), Andre Boillot, Howdy Wilcox and Ray Howard. The cars weren't complete on arrival at Indianapolis and, despite frantic work at the track, were under prepared for both practice and the race. The new 3 Litre engines had serious overheating issues plus other faults. These problems lead to both poor qualifying and race performances eventually leading to race retirements for all four cars. Andre Boillot (17) was the first to retire after only 16 laps. Peugeot’s new 4 cylinder in line engine had a capacity of 2,980cc and was fitted with triple overhead camshafts and 5 valves per cylinder.

* Model is in its own display case with clear plastic cover and black plastic base. Display case is packed in a printed outer box with cut-out display window.
* Model and packaging, including display case, are all in very good condition.
* Model has been on display in a glass fronted cabinet , not removed from its base. The outer box was stored separately away from light and humidity.
