The box contains five WWII medals:
• 1939–1945 Star
• Atlantic Star
• Burma Star
• Defence Medal
• War Medal 1939–1945

Original WWII Royal Navy medal issue box, with handwritten recipient details and service number.

The box is addressed to:

Mr D. [surname unclear]
13 Laisteridge Court
Shearbridge
Bradford

A Royal Navy service number ending in 31341 is also handwritten on the side of the box. The full number and surname are difficult to decipher due to the age and fading of the handwriting.

The box carries the original printed Royal Navy return details for the Director of Navy Accounts, Branch 3B, “D” Block, Foxhill Hutments, Bath, Somerset.

A very interesting piece for a Royal Navy / WWII militaria collector, particularly because of the named box, original address and handwritten service number.

@donedealuser (#3ca453) you are completely right. It is a vintage TGW (Transport and General Workers' Union) lapel badge that shows the sailor’s civilian trade/dockland history alongside their Royal Navy service. The pin was with included along with the box and I'd like to keep them together. Sorry for giving incorrect information last night about the pin

@donedealuser (#3ca453) their a nice group, thank you very much. The lapel pin is a great piece of wartime home-front history that completes the set. I’m open to reasonable offers on the full lot, please feel free to submit an offer if you would like to PM. Thank you

@donedealuser (#3ca453) the badge came along with the box, medals and holy card as one lot.
I believe the badge design features a central monogram inside a winged cogwheel, which is a wartime industrial/civilian war worker lapel pin rather than a standard trade union badge.
During WWII, skilled tradesmen, dockyard engineers and defense factory workers wore these pins to prove they were engaged in essential war work. It's a great piece of home-front history that fits right alongside the sailor's Royal Navy service medals

Thank you for responding, also what is the significance of the general worker trade union badge?

@donedealuser (#3ca453) hello there, No, these are standard wartime issue and are not engraved, which is 100% authentic and correct for WWII British campaign medals

Hello, are the medals themselves engraved with name and rank ?
