WWII Curragh Internment Camp 1d Token (1940)
Original wartime token issued during The Emergency for use inside the Curragh Internment Camp, Co. Kildare. Used by Republican internees and German POWs to prevent prisoners holding usable cash outside the camp. Struck in brass (copper-coloured), approx. 27mm diameter, featuring “CURRAGH”, the date “1940” and “1d” denomination, with a blank reverse. A genuine and scarce piece of Irish WWII and internment history, ideal for war memorabilia or history collectors.
