World War 1 Menin Gate Memorial brass ashtray
Heavy brass decorative triangular (380 g) commemorative ashtray,measures 5 inches across ,stands 1 inch high
Made in Belgium after the end of WW1,its the best part of 100 years old! It depicts the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial unveiled in 1927 to honour all British + Commonwealth soldiers lost in the war whose final resting place is unknown,over 55,000 .
The script around decorative scrolled edge reads
Ypres Menin Gate Memorial to all the unknown soldiers of the British Armies
My own Great Uncle died in WW1 and is buried in France.
