POLISH MEDAL FOR USSR ARMY GUARD OF PEACE, 1972 - 1990, BRONZE COLOURED
Bronze coloured medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the Polish eagle within an outline of the map of Poland, inscribed ‘BAŁTYK’ (Baltic) above and ‘ODRA NYSA’ (Oder Neisse) below, a striped frontier pole upright to the left, within a ring inscribed ‘NA STRAŻY’ above and ‘POKOJU’ below; the reverse inscribed ‘RADA / MINISTROW / POLSKIEJ / RZECZYPOLITEJ / LUDOWEJ’ (Government of the People's Republic of Poland) within a ring inscribed ‘PRZYJAŻN SOCJALIZM POKOJ (Friendship, Socialism, Peace); on original ribbon. The medal was instituted on 22 September 1972 to be awarded to members of the Soviet Army stationed in Poland. It has not been awarded since 1990.
