Michelangelo medal
A high quality reproduction of a 1561 medal who's design was approved by Michelangelo.
Obverse (Front): Features a right-facing bust of an elderly Michelangelo. The Latin inscription reads: MICHAELANGELVS BONARROTVS FLOR[entinus] AES[tatis] ANN[o] 88. This translates to "Michelangelo Buonarroti, Florentine, in his 88th year."
Reverse (Back): Depicts a blind man (often interpreted as a pilgrim or a beggar) being led by a dog. The Latin inscription is: DOCEBO INIQUOS V[ias] T[uas] ET IMPII AD TE CONVER[tentur]. This is taken from Psalm 51:13: "I will teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee."
Artist: Leone Leoni, a friend of Michelangelo. This is considered one of the most faithful contemporary likenesses of the artist.
