Owned/used by Collins, not worn by him. Handed down to his nephew and from there to the owner who in turn later sold them the an Irish Auction hse from which I purchased them

I ask because the photos I've seen of men arrested after the rising show them guarded, but not handcuffed. Around 3,500 were arrested by the military then and I didn't hear of another time Collins was arrested. While promonent later, I'm not sure I understand why or when he would have been handcuffed.

Am wondering if it is possibly a case where an acquaintance of a volunteer posessing them led to a misunderstanding later? Some homes seem to have kept hiatts which were not connected to the RIC, and they were occasionally passed around.
