Raised in a Protestant home in Belfast, Lewis abandoned his faith as a teenager following the painful death of his mother to cancer and his traumatic experiences on the battlefields of World War I. He long questioned how a benevolent God could permit evil. However, intense philosophical debates with Tolkien and Hugo Dyson eventually convinced him that myths carry profound spiritual truths. He returned to Christianity in 1931, becoming one of the 20th century's most articulate defenders of the faith.

CS Lewis, known to his friends as Jack, was a towering novelist, academic medievalist, and lay theologian. He remains globally celebrated for his children's fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia, alongside his deeply influential works of Christian apologetics
