1990 World Cup Ireland Signed Jersey
This is a framed, signed away Irish jersey from the 1990 World Cup. This is the jersey worn by the team against Egypt, The Netherlands, and Italy.
It was bought originally at the end of May 1990 at a charity pub quiz and auction held for Special Olympics Ireland, to raise funds for the Irish team going to Scotland for the European Games at the end of July 1990.
It was framed by Oisin Arts which became Oisin Art Gallery on Westland Row, Dublin. It has since closed. It is still encased in the original frame. This would have been the nearest framers to the old FAI headquarters on Merrion Square.
The shirt is in absolutely perfect condition and has been kept in a room with no sunlight for thirty years, so no sunlight damage. The shirt was manufactured in Cork by Three Stripe International who were contracted by Adidas to make them at the time. As far as I can make out, there is no number on the back.
As it is from 1990 and in it's original sealed frame, there is no certificate of authenticity.
The frame measures 108cm (42") wide, and 89cm (35") high. Because of the size of the frame, the framers used clear perspex instead of glass, and there is a crack (12cm 4.5")in the perspex on the bottom right of the frame.
