​These medals were issued as souvenirs or "pilgrim tokens" for those who traveled to Rome during the Jubilee (Holy Year) declared by Pope Pius XII.
​Item Breakdown
​Central Symbol: The "Chi-Rho" (\chi\rho). This is one of the earliest forms of christogram, formed by superimposing the first two (capital) letters—chi and rho (XP)—of the Greek word ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ (Christos).
​Latin Inscription: The border reads "ANNO JUBILAEI MCML".
