1947 Feis Silver Medal
This is a pretty rare medal from the year of the big snow. It took me a while to trace it's origin near the Glens of Antrim. A remarkable design and in perfect condition.
The historical "Dal Buinne": In ancient Irish history and mythology (such as the tales of Ulster and the Knights of the Red Branch), Dál Buinne was an old tribal territory located in the south of County Antrim and north of County Down (near modern-day Lisburn). In old texts, a feis (feast or gathering) at Ulster sites like Eamhain Macha often mentions warriors and figures from Dál Buinne.
