Captives of the Atom Master:
The Flash (Barry Allen) is working on his cosmic treadmill that will enable him to travel through time. However when he checks his watch he finds that it still shows eight o'clock: the treadmill's electromagnetic field has caused it to stop. Which means that as usual he is late for lunch with Iris West. Sure enough he gets a frosty reception as he arrives to find her waiting outside the restaurant. However, as he reaches out to push the door open, it swings towards them instead, hitting Iris in the chest. Inside, as he tries to explain, he finds that the cutlery is being attracted to him as if he was a living magnet. He excuses himself for a moment and heads back to his laboratory where he can remove the effect, but on the way there he sees a giant atom hanging in mid-air. Beside it is a costumed criminal who demands that all of the money in Central City's banks be delivered to him within one hour, or he will set off a neutron bomb contained inside it. The villain is Manfred Mota, now calling himself 'Professor Fallout', released from prison and back to his old ways. Flash confronts him but is rendered unconscious by a blast of positrons and taken away to Fallout's lair. John Fox, arrived from the future to recruit the Flash, watches helplessly as they drive off. Flash awakens to find himself strapped to a giant model atom, with Prof. Fallout mocking him as he leaves to collect the ransom money. Flash manages to free himself by vibrating his body, increasing the magnetic charge still in his body so that the nucleus of the model atom repels him. He rushes back to the location of the bomb, where the Mayor is about to hand over the money, and deactivates the device before capturing Professor Fallout. John Fox tries in vain to reach the Flash but is recalled to his own time before he can do so. And Barry returns to the restaurant to find that Iris has gone. He is disappointed but not surprised--until she reappears, explaining that she had rushed off to cover the story of the neutron bomb. Barry professes ignorance, claiming that he has been in the men's room the whole time.
