I’m not a technician and I don’t do hardware repairs, but my guess is that during the SSD installation a display cable might have been damaged or not reconnected properly. That’s the only thing I can think of.

Thanks for your reply, just wondering if you would know why the screen is black (flickers when turned on, then goes dark) but the machine is running. I just installed an SSD drive into it.

Hi, this adapter allows you to connect a VGA monitor to a device with a Mini DisplayPort. The 2006 20” iMac does not have a Mini DisplayPort, so it cannot be used directly with this iMac.
